Block #4: Lex Fridman

Lex Fridman has two excellent podcast interviews with Vitalik Buterin. They cover everything from the very basics of Ethereum up to the most recent innovations of the protocol like Layer 2, sharding, and much more. It's perfect for beginners.

Use the links below to check it out on YouTube:

Block #3: Vitalik

Vitalik Buterin is, without a doubt, the single most important human being in the global blockchain community. He's the co-founder of Ethereum and was recently named one of the 100 most influential people of 2021. You will hear a lot about Vitalik in future 3Blocks issues. For today, though, I wanted to point you to his excellent blog: His articles are admittedly quite technical, but there truly is no better resource for you to stay up to date with the latest Ethereum core development.

Block #2: MetaMask

As of today, MetaMask is by far the most popular wallet for the Ethereum blockchain. It's available for mobile and as an extension for Firefox, Chrome, and Brave. After installation, it enables your browser to interact with the Ethereum network. Not only can you use it to store, send, and receive ether, but it also allows you to interact with decentralized applications running on Ethereum. I particularly like MetaMask as a developer because you can switch quickly between a test network, e.g., Rinkeby, and the Ethereum Mainnet. If you haven't already, go and download MetaMask here.

Block #1: ETH is green

Carl Beekhuizen wrote an excellent post about Ethereum's power consumption after "the merge", i.e., after switching the chain's consensus mechanism from Proof-of-Work to Proof-of-Stake. I really like having this one as a reference at all times because it helps you disarm many people who still think that blockchains are inherently bad for the environment.
